Five Upcoming SUV Models in India - Hyundai Venue to Maruti Vitara Brezza Facelift

Here are new five upcoming SUV models that will be launched in the coming months. The list of new SUVs includes Hyundai Venue, MG Hector, Tata Cassini, Kia SP2i and the Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift

The upcoming months will see a lot of action in the SUV segment with the launch of as many as 5 much awaited upcoming SUV models, including Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift, MG Hector, Kia SP2i, and Tata Cassini.

 

Hyundai Venue

The success of the Hyundai Creta has inspired Hyundai to move forward with a new sub-four-meter SUV. The upcoming SUV coined as Venue will make its world premiere at the New York International Motor Show.

The SUV will inherit the platform of the hatchback Grand i10 while, in terms of design, the Kona and Santa Fe’s design characteristics will be in the genes of the upcoming Hyundai Venue. Other than that, the Venue is loaded with a host of upmarket features including sunroof, ventilated seats and wireless charging along with 6-airbags.

Under the hood, the Venue will be powered by 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol, 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engine. This engine comes with either a manual or dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

MG Hector

MG Motor has been so active recently to prepare for their first launch in the market with the MG Hector. This premium SUV is expected to launch later this year.

Developed from the China-spec Baojun 530, MG Hector, when entering our market, will get some certain style updates. While the signature grille of the brand is reserved, the front and rear bumper are revised to fit the India preference.

On the inside, MG Hector is equipped with Volvo-inspired vertical touchscreen unit along with a digital instrument cluster. Besides an impressive and futuristic infotainment system, the MG Hector also gets features like four disc brakes, cruise control and sunroof.

The engine options include 1.5-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The former comes with a mild hybrid system. MG Hector also offers both manual and automatic option.

Tata Cassini (Buzzard)

It has been confirmed that the Harrier-based seven-seater SUV will be named Cassini. Tata Motor has brought this SUV to the 2019 Geneva Motor Show hosted earlier this year.

Tata Cassini gets the same OMEGA platform and features the IMPACT 2.0, both of which could also be found on its sibling Harrier. The design will be slightly different to fit the function and practicality of a seven-seater. Other than that, Tata Cassini will be quite similar to the Harrier. Inside the Cassini, it will have a sunroof, four-wheel drive system, leather seats along with other features. Under the hood, Tata Buzzard will be FCA-sourced 2.0-litre engine that could produce 173PS.

Kia SP2i

Besides the first MG Motor SUV Hector, Indian customers will also another first model from the South Korean brand Kia. The SP2i is built from the SP Concept 2018 that is later developed into the 2018 Auto Expo. The SP2i is reported to share the platform with the Hyundai Creta.

Exteriorly, Kia SP2i will not be so different from the Kia SP Concept. It will share the platform with the Hyundai Creta. The interior will be similar to other Kia’s models. As far as we know, the production version of the SP Concept will come with a touchscreen infotainment system, leather seats, cruise control.

It will feature both petrol and diesel engine. Both manual and auto gearbox are all on offer. Booking for the new SP2i might be opened in August 2019, and it will go on sale one month later. Kia SP2i is going to be priced from Rs 12 lakh to 16 lakh.

Maruti Vitara Brezza Facelift

While the rest of the list car all brand-new name in the market, the last SUV on our list will be the popular Maruti Vitara Brezza. The Brezza has already been the segment-leading model in the compact SUV space. With the upcoming facelift, it is hoped that Maruti Vitara Brezza will reinforce its status in the market. The manufacturing of the new Brezza has already started. The interior will be kept mostly the same apart from some minor changes like a new colour scheme and new features. A new 1.5-litre diesel will replace the ongoing 1.3-litre diesel engine.
