Isuzu MU-X is expected to re-enter the Indian market soon under the BSVI form. The updated MU-X was recently spotted while doing a road test with barely any cosmetic updates.

It has been over one year since Isuzu halted the production of the D-Cross V-Max and MU-X for the Indian market due to the implementation of the stringent BSVI emission norms. However, it is not the end for these models yet. In fact, Isuzu is planning to reintroduce these models in our market. Recently, the new MU-X SUV was caught on camera during a road test without camouflage.

Isuzu MU-X will soon return to the Indian market under the BSVI-compliant form

According to the revealed images, the spied MU-X is not the latest generation that is available in the international market. Instead, it is still the old-gen version that was previously on sale in India. Apparently, Isuzu will not introduce the new-gen version of the MU-X in our market. The upcoming model is most likely to receive some mechanical updates under the hood only. As per the spy shots, the MU-X looks identical to the previous version. It is possible that the interior of the MU-X will remain unchanged as well.

On the previous-gen version, Isuzu MU-X did not come with many premium features or advanced technologies. Compared to other competitors, the Isuzu MU-X would face some big disadvantages if it keeps the old offering. That being said, since the spied model is only a pre-production version, there is still time for the Isuzu to deliver the necessary updates before the BSVI MUX-V hits the market sometime next year.

As for the previous-gen model, the Isuzu MU-X was equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system (this system does not support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), cruise control, and a power-adjustable driver seat as well as leather upholstery. However, the rest of the cabin was designed to be highly utilitarian with minimal equipment.

About the powertrain option, it is expected that the new MU-X will be powered by a BSVI-compliant 3.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel motor. The power output of this engine is expected to stand at 177 PS and 380 Nm. This engine is expected to be mated to either a manual or automatic gearbox option. 4WD system is expected to be available for the top variants. The lower variants are likely to get the RWD setting.

At launch, the Isuzu MU-X will continue to take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster in the Indian market. After receiving the required BSVI updates, the MU-X is expected to be priced from Rs 28 lakh (ex-showroom).
